This Privacy Policy explains how Hassanin Yousif, trading as Oorukai.com ("Oorukai," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information in connection with Vertex (the "App"), a mobile game for iOS and Android. It applies to the App itself and to no other Oorukai product or website unless that product links to this policy directly.
By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Summary
Because this section is a summary, the numbered sections below it are the authoritative version if anything here seems to conflict.
- Vertex has no accounts of our own and no server of its own. We do not know your name, email address, phone number, or physical address, and the App never asks you for them. The one sign-in it can use is Apple's Game Center, for leaderboards.
- Your best score, settings, and owned/selected cosmetic items are stored only on your device and are never sent to us.
- We use Firebase Crashlytics to receive automatic crash reports and Firebase Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase) to understand how the App is used, both operated by Google.
- We show rewarded video ads (to let you continue a run) through Google AdMob. On iOS, whether those ads are personalized is decided by your answer to Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt — decline and they stay non-personalized. If you're in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, a consent flow (Google's User Messaging Platform) runs before any ad-related data processing that requires your consent, and you can revisit that choice any time from Settings → Privacy Options.
- In-app purchases (cosmetic skins and backgrounds) are billed and processed entirely by Apple or Google. We never see or store your payment details.
- Leaderboards on iOS are Apple Game Center leaderboards. If you're signed in to Game Center, your score is submitted to Apple and your Game Center nickname, rank, and score are visible to other players — the same as in any other Game Center game. We never receive any of it.
- We do not sell your personal information.
2. Who We Are
Vertex is developed and published by Hassanin Yousif, trading as Oorukai.com ("Oorukai"). If you have questions about this policy or about how the App handles information, you can reach us at privacy@oorukai.com or through oorukai.com.
Data controller: Hassanin Yousif, trading as Oorukai.com. For the purposes of applicable data protection law (including the EU/UK GDPR), Hassanin Yousif, trading as Oorukai.com, is the data controller for the information described in Section 3, except where a third-party service listed in Section 6 acts as an independent controller of its own data (for example, Apple's or Google's handling of your payment information, which we never receive).
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information collected automatically
When you use the App, the following information may be collected automatically by the third-party services described in Section 6, acting on our behalf:
- Crash and stability data (via Firebase Crashlytics): when the App crashes or encounters an error, we receive a crash report containing information such as your device model, operating system and version, app version, available memory/storage, and the stack trace of the error. This is used solely to find and fix bugs.
- Gameplay and usage analytics (via Firebase Analytics): we receive events describing how the App is used — for example, when a play session starts and ends, when a run starts and ends (including your score, how long you survived, and how the run ended), whether you completed or skipped the onboarding tutorial and at which step you stopped, which cosmetic items you unlock, view, select, or purchase (including the price), and whether you play the Daily Challenge or view a leaderboard. These events are tied to an app-instance identifier that Google generates for analytics purposes — not to your name or any contact information, which the App never collects in the first place.
- Advertising identifiers (via Google AdMob and its Google Mobile Ads SDK): when a rewarded ad is requested or shown, Google's ad SDK may process device and advertising identifiers (such as your device's advertising ID) and general technical information (device type, operating system, coarse location derived from IP address) under Google's own advertising policies. On iOS, the App shows Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, as required for any app bundling an ad SDK capable of accessing your device's advertising identifier. Your answer to that prompt controls whether ads are personalized. If you allow tracking, ad requests may be personalized using your advertising identifier. If you decline — or if you are on a device or OS version where the prompt does not appear and no separate consent basis applies — ad requests are configured as non-personalized, and you will see the same number of ads, just less relevant ones. You can change this answer at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Basic technical/diagnostic information collected incidentally by the operating system and app stores themselves (for example, install and crash statistics Apple/Google make available to developers) is outside our direct control and is covered by Apple's and Google's own privacy policies (Section 6).
3.2 Information stored only on your device
The following is stored locally on your device using standard app storage and is never transmitted to us or to any third party:
- Your best score.
- App settings: whether sound is muted, whether reduced-motion mode is on, and whether you've completed the onboarding tutorial.
- Which cosmetic skins and backgrounds you own, and which ones are currently selected/equipped.
- Your Game Center player identifier, cached so the App can recognise your own entry in a leaderboard (see Section 3.4). It is stored on your device only and never sent to us.
If you uninstall the App, this locally stored information is deleted from your device along with everything else the App stored there, subject to your device's own backup behavior (for example, an iOS/Android system backup may include this app data unless you've excluded it).
3.3 Purchase information
The App offers optional, non-consumable in-app purchases (cosmetic skins and backgrounds; no purchase affects gameplay difficulty or outcome). All purchases are billed and processed entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play — we never receive, see, or store your payment card details, billing address, or other payment information. When a purchase completes, we receive confirmation of which item was bought and its price, which is used only to unlock that item locally on your device and, per Section 3.1, to log a corresponding analytics event. We do not operate any server-side receipt validation; the App trusts the confirmation Apple/Google's own purchase APIs provide.
3.4 Leaderboards (Apple Game Center)
On iOS, the App's leaderboards (All-Time, Friends, and Daily Challenge) are Apple Game Center leaderboards. They are real, and they involve other real players.
- What is sent. When a run ends, if you are already signed in to Game Center on your device, the App submits your score for that run — a single integer — to Apple's Game Center leaderboard for this App. It sends nothing else: no gameplay recording, no device information, no contact details.
- What is shown to you. When you open a leaderboard, the App asks Game Center for the top entries and for your own entry, and displays each one's Game Center display name (nickname), rank, and score. Those nicknames belong to other real players.
- What other people can see. Your Game Center nickname, rank, and score are visible to other players on the same leaderboard, exactly as they are in any other Game Center game.
- Your Game Center identity. The App reads your Game Center player identifier and stores it on your own device so it can tell your entry apart from everyone else's. That identifier is never transmitted to us.
- We never receive any of it. Game Center is operated by Apple. Scores and nicknames go to Apple, not to us. We have no server and no copy of any leaderboard.
- Turning it off. If you are not signed in to Game Center, the App never submits a score and never prompts you to sign in during a run. You can sign out or manage Game Center at any time in iOS Settings → Game Center. Apple's handling of Game Center data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy, not this one.
On Android, no leaderboard service is connected in this version, and scores stay on your device.
3.5 Information we do not collect
The App has no account system of our own — we operate no server, and there is nothing to register for. The one sign-in the App can use is Apple's Game Center (Section 3.4), which is Apple's, not ours, and which the App never initiates on its own during play.
The App does not collect or request your name, email address, phone number, physical address, government ID, or contacts. It does not access your camera, microphone, precise location, photo library, or contacts, and it has no chat, messaging, or other feature that would let you or another player submit user-generated content. The only text another player can ever see from you is the Game Center nickname you chose with Apple.
4. How We Use Information
We use the information described in Section 3.1 only to:
- Diagnose and fix crashes and stability problems (Crashlytics data).
- Understand how the App is used in aggregate — for example, whether players finish the tutorial, which cosmetic items are popular, and overall engagement and retention — so we can improve the game (Analytics data).
- Deliver and measure the rewarded ads that let you continue a run after a loss, per Google's advertising policies (Section 3.1's advertising identifiers).
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud or abuse of the App's purchase and ad-serving mechanisms.
- Comply with legal obligations where applicable.
We do not use this information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you, and we do not combine it with any directly-identifying information such as your name or email address, because we never collect that information in the first place.
5. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA/UK Users)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we (or the third-party services acting on our behalf) rely on the following legal bases:
- Legitimate interests — for crash reporting and analytics, in keeping the App functioning correctly and understanding aggregate usage to improve it, balanced against your rights as described in Section 9.
- Consent — for any advertising-related processing that requires it under the EU/UK ePrivacy and data protection rules, gathered through the UMP consent flow described in Section 7 before that processing occurs, and withdrawable at any time via Settings → Privacy Options.
- Performance of a contract — for processing that Apple or Google carries out as necessary to complete a purchase you've requested.
6. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services, each of which processes information under its own privacy policy, independent of this one. We encourage you to review them:
| Service | Purpose | Privacy Policy |
|---|---|---|
| Firebase Crashlytics (Google) | Automatic crash reporting | firebase.google.com/support/privacy |
| Firebase Analytics / Google Analytics for Firebase (Google) | Gameplay and usage analytics | firebase.google.com/support/privacy |
| Google AdMob & Google Mobile Ads SDK (Google) | Rewarded video ads | policies.google.com/privacy and Google's AdMob data disclosure |
| Google User Messaging Platform ("UMP") | EEA/UK/Switzerland ad-consent flow | policies.google.com/privacy |
| Apple App Store & StoreKit (Apple) | Processing iOS in-app purchases | apple.com/legal/privacy |
| Apple Game Center (Apple) | Leaderboards: score submission, and displaying other players' nicknames and ranks (Section 3.4) | apple.com/legal/privacy |
| RevenueCat | Recording which in-app purchases you own, so they can be restored | revenuecat.com/privacy |
| Google Play Billing (Google) | Processing Android in-app purchases | policies.google.com/privacy |
Google's Firebase services (Crashlytics and Analytics) and AdMob are all covered under Google's own overarching privacy policy in addition to the service-specific pages linked above.
We do not sell your personal information to any third party, and we do not share it with any third party for that third party's own independent marketing purposes, other than the ad-serving activity of AdMob described in Section 3.1 and Section 7, which you can influence via the consent and opt-out controls described there.
The App also includes a "More games from Oorukai" menu option, which opens our website at oorukai.com in your device's browser. That site (and any other site or app you reach through it) is outside the App and is governed by its own privacy policy and terms, not this one.
7. Advertising and Your Consent Choices
If the App detects that you're located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, it runs Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent flow before requesting any ads that would need your consent under those regions' rules, and it will not initialize the Google Mobile Ads SDK at all until that flow resolves. You can review or change your choice at any time from Settings → Privacy Options within the App (this option only appears where Google's UMP determines it's required).
Regardless of region, you can also limit ad personalization at the operating-system level. On iOS, the App will also show you Apple's App Tracking Transparency system prompt directly, rather than only relying on you finding this setting yourself; you can allow or decline it there, or change your choice afterwards:
- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising.
- Android: Settings → Google → Ads, where you can reset or opt out of your device's advertising ID (called "opt out of Ads Personalization"/"Delete advertising ID" depending on Android version).
As noted in Section 3.1, your answer to the App Tracking Transparency prompt is what decides whether this App's ads are personalized: allow, and ad requests may use your advertising identifier; decline, and they are sent as non-personalized. Declining does not reduce the number of ads you see, and it never affects gameplay, your score, or anything you have bought. Where the UMP flow above applies, both conditions must be satisfied before an ad is personalized.
8. Data Retention
We do not operate a backend server or database of our own, so we do not directly retain any of the information described in Section 3.1 — it is retained by Google (Firebase Crashlytics, Firebase Analytics, AdMob) under their own retention schedules and settings, which you can read about in the policies linked in Section 6. Information stored locally on your device (Section 3.2) persists until you clear the App's storage, uninstall the App, or reset the device, whichever happens first.
9. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal information, to receive a copy of it in a portable format, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Because the App has no accounts and does not tie the information in Section 3.1 to your identity, we are often not able to look up "your" data by name — the most direct ways to exercise control are:
- Delete everything the App itself stores: uninstall the App, which removes all locally stored data described in Section 3.2 from your device.
- Limit or reset advertising data: use your device's ad-settings controls described in Section 7, which is how Google's systems associate advertising data with a resettable identifier rather than a fixed one.
- Manage ad consent: use Settings → Privacy Options in the App, described in Section 7.
- Ask Google directly: since Crashlytics, Analytics, and AdMob data is held by Google on our behalf, Google provides its own controls and request mechanisms for the data it processes; see the policies linked in Section 6.
- Contact us: email privacy@oorukai.com with any request or question, including a request to identify or delete information you believe we hold about you specifically (for example, tied to an approximate timestamp and device description) — we will do our best to locate and act on it within the relevant Firebase/Google tooling available to us, and will respond within a reasonable time and in any event within the period required by applicable law.
California residents: we do not sell or share (as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA) your personal information, and we have not done so in the preceding 12 months. The categories of personal information described in Section 3.1 may be disclosed to the service providers listed in Section 6 for the business purposes described in Section 4. We do not collect "sensitive personal information" as defined by the CPRA (for example, precise geolocation, government IDs, or health information), so there is no sensitive-information use to limit. You may exercise your rights to know, delete, or correct by contacting us as described above.
Nevada residents: we do not sell personal information as defined under Nevada law (NRS 603A). If you'd still like to submit a request not to sell, you may contact us at the email above.
10. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The App has no account creation, chat, or other feature that would let a child submit personal information to us. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@oorukai.com so we can investigate and, where appropriate, arrange for its deletion via the relevant third-party service in Section 6.
11. Data Security
We rely on the security practices of the third-party services listed in Section 6 (all operated by Apple or Google) to protect the information described in Section 3.1, and on your device's own operating system to protect the information described in Section 3.2. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Because we never receive your payment details (Section 3.3) or directly-identifying information (Section 3.5), our own exposure in the event of an incident is correspondingly limited to the categories of information described in Section 3.1.
12. International Data Transfers
The third-party services described in Section 6 may process and store information on servers located outside your country of residence, including in the United States, as part of Google's and Apple's global infrastructure. Where required, those companies rely on their own safeguards for cross-border transfers (such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses); see the policies linked in Section 6 for details of each company's own approach.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, if we add a new feature, integrate a new third-party service, or enable personalized advertising. We will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy whenever we do, and for any change we consider material, we will make reasonable efforts to call it out in the App's store listing or update notes. Your continued use of the App after a revised policy takes effect constitutes your acceptance of it.
14. Contact Us
